I arrived at the Vincent Gap Trailhead/Parking lot at 8am thinking this would be early enough to beat the heat. Plenty of parking available. Plenty of hikers already on the trail, with a better plan to beat the heat than mine! It actually only warmed up to mid 80's around noon so the heat was never really any issue. The trail is in great condition, a series of switchbacks the entire way. Some switchbacks are more compact while others are comfortably spread out, but they are always heading uphill. Most of the trail was pleasantly shaded. I hiked solo but was never alone for long as the trail was fairly populated. A few dogs panting their way up as well. Nothing too strenuous and not too long at just under 8 miles out and back. 12:30 saw me again at the parking lot after relaxing on top for a half hour or so. All in all a good half day with a nice lunch enjoyed at the Grizzly Cafe in Wrightwood and an even better scoop of mint n chip on the way out of town.
