I almost marked this one down as an overnight for type of hike because I got a little off course which added about a mile each way and then phone and apple watch died so I had limited light sources (stupidly forgot to get my headlamp into my bag). Â This is the type of hike that teaches you valuable lessons. Â It was cloudy all day, but no rain and short bursts of sun shining through. Â I had been walking slow to not overexert a strained calf muscle so this was the slowest hike I've ever done and I paid for it by walking down a very rocky last two miles with a dog in the dark. Â The summit was beautiful and there were very few hikers along the trail. Â I was definitely the last person off that trail in pitch black. Â Overall, it was a beautiful hike and day, but it is steep and uneven on the Oak Grove trail. Â I'm not a fan of fire roads, which a majority of this trail is on, but given the lighting issues I had I was thankful to only have 2 miles of uneven terrain.
