Temperature: 66 Sunny, Slight Breeze
Getting to the Trail: You must have a 4 wheel drive to park at the dirt parking lot on Maple Speings Road as it is a lot of off roading, rough roads, stream crossings and giant pot holes. If not you can park on the concrete pavement at the gate it will double the length of your hike up to 12 miles.
Trail Conditions: Trail was a little bit overgrown but manageable. The bugs on the trail and especially at the top of Modjeska Peak & Santiago Peak were treacherous. There were areas of shade and pretty quiet except for the off-roading vehicles and dirt bikes.
Location of the Trail: Started at the dirt parking lot on Maple Springs. A lot of people there hanging out and enjoying the scenery. Also at the top of Santiago Peak there were people there as well having fun and hanging out.
Description of Hike: The hike (I went solo) was good and steep only going up to Modjeaka Peak. Afterwards you come down and a gradual climb up to Santiago Peak. On the way up to Santiago Peak you will see an old pickup truck crashed along the trail. The views from Modjeska Peak were nice however the views from Santiago Peak were just okay due to the radio and tv towers blocking the views.
