So I havent hiked or let alone backpacked in a while…. I was having a much more difficult time than when we backpacked Cucamonga. I took the week off from the gym and ate really poorly which lead to me suffering during this backpacking trip. We started at about 1400 and the weather was nice. I think I took about 4-5 mini breaks before we even got to the switch backs. Starting at the switchbacks, I got my second wind. I did not want and could not stop, I was afraid that if I was to stop it would take me a long time to start up again. We finally reached the saddle and I was beyond thrilled. The bees made it so that we did not take a long break. I have a small fear that I may be allergic to bees due to a larger reaction the second time I was stung. We took a 5 minute break and meet some others who were backpacking. We continued on and reached Kelly camp. We stopped here because when we did research, we did not find that there were any suitable camping sites. I was relieved to be able to take off that pack. We set up camp, ate and I was tired. We set out for Ontario peak in the morning with our packs. At the peak, we had it to ourselves for 20 minutes. At the peak, we met some pretty cool people. We exchanged information and off we went on our merry way. Hiked all the way back down to the parking lot and drove to a local Red Robin!
