Logging a little late, but better late than never eh?!?

This was my first solo peak! I was a bit nervous hiking alone. My mother has always ingrained in my head that hiking alone is extremely dangerous. Yes, she's right. There's added risk to being alone. What if something goes wrong? You sustain an injury. You lose site of the trial. Of course, these things are more dangerous alone. BUT, as anyone who has taken Icehouse Canyon Trail before can tell you, you are HARDLY alone.

I thoroughly enjoyed the solo trip! I was able to keep my own pace, not feeling like I was holding anyone back or keeping anyone struggling behind me. It was extremely relaxing not to speak for long periods of time. Just simply take in the nature and enjoy the sounds of the birds chirping. With about a 1.5 miles left to the junction, I met a couple of hikers who were part of a larger group. We chatted it up until the junction, where they split left to Cucamonga Peak and I split right to Ontario. I've now found some hiking buddies to conquer San Gorgonio with!!! That's one trail I wouldn't want to do alone!

This was my favorite trail thus far. I've done Cucamonga before, so I had an idea of what to expect. I'm so happy I chose to take the alternate trail to Ontario this go around. It was must less crowded (I didn't run into anyone on the trail until I reached the peak!). I've averaged 8 hours total for every peak I've done, but hiking alone I found I cut 90 mins off my time! So in 6.6 hours I was back at my car and excited for a celebratory beer!
