Okay, today was a little bit of a training training hike. What I mean is, we all have our reasons for doing the 6POPs Challenge, but I’d imagine it’s training and conditioning for something even bigger and badder than just a single peak. I’d be lying if I said it was JUST a hike by itself and nothing else. With a couple of backpacking trips in August and September, nothing insane, but definitely the ultimate end goal for the months of preparation. It dawned on me that for these trips, I would be carrying more than just a day pack. So today seemed like it was a good time to break out the ol’65 liter and load’er up! Although, I probably left it 10 or 15 lbs. lighter than I intend to while being on the trail for 3 and 4 days at a time.
Things went relatively well. No major issues to report.
The trail however was awesome! I was on the trail early, so not a ton of traffic. There were a handful of other awesome 6POP Challengers that I met throughout the day. I’d have to say that this peak is probably less traveled than Cucamonga, so keep that in mind if you have a preference. The weather was nice enough even for August. This was a great hike to finish all the SoCal 6POP hikes.
