I'll update this later on with my full hike video. But here is a video I took at the peak. Just got to the peak, and was just filming around. Then went to climb the rocks, and just as I got to the top, a plane buzzed us. He was low, the video really doesn't do it justice how low he was. I'd say from my vantage point, he missed a tree by 5 feet.
Now about the hike. I started early in the morning when it was still dark. A bit after 5 am. Parking lot was packed, and by the time I started my hike all the parking spaces in the main lot were taken.
Hiked in the dark for a while. And like Cucamonga Peak, that hike to the Icehouse Canyon Saddle is just brutal.
But unlike Cucamonga, the Ontario side is much more of a forgiving hike. There is one hard section, but overall it's just a slight incline of a hike to the top.
The view from Ontario is nice, Baldy is right there. On a clear day you could probably see Wilson and the ocean. (today was not a clear day)
Shade wise, if you go in the morning, you have the saddle blocking the sun for a while. On the Ontario side, since I left so early, I did have shade up much of the hike, since the trail is predominantly on the East side of the mountain. There were no bugs that I noticed. But noticed a lot of baby chipmunks running around.

Also, forgot to add. The water situation up there is pretty dry. Around the 2 mile mark, there is a spring that was still flowing. The stream around the 3 mile mark was dry. It was flowing a few months ago, but I didn’t see any water there this trip. So if you are hiking light and hoping to fill up along the way, the spring will be your last chance.
