The four miles going to the first break point was unbearably challenging with our heavy backpacks. Mine contained a small tent, sleeping bag, snacks, lots of water, and other essentials. It felt like i was carrying three rice bags up a mountain. After lunch at Icehouse Saddle, we hiked up another 1.5 miles to our camping ground, Camp Kelly. It was very reliving to arrive at the camp. The next morning, we woke up, bright and early to hike to the peak. We left our big backpacks and took small daypacks instead. By the time the hike was over, I had bruises on my hipbones.
