My son and I camped in Idyllwild to give us one day of altitude before our hike and an earlier start.  As a result we got a 5:45am start.  We have been doing these peaks on a Monday.  This time it was on a Sunday.  As a result we had plenty of people on the trail. A line to get sign pics taken at the top.  This is a tough hike.  Our altitude strategy helped but it is a challenging climb with a rock scramble at the top.  The trail is well marked and we navigated easily.  There is water about halfway so you can refill hydration.  The views are amazing.  The views at the top are stunning.  The peak is pretty much a point, so with a dozen people looking for a spot to rest and check out the views it was a bit crowded.  Because of how steep, the hike down is hard as well and takes more time than you expect.  Total distance was 12.6 miles and we took  9:46 round trip.
