Hi, everyone. Well, I showed up dressed right for summer. Short sleeve shirt this time. I couldn't get a temperature reading from the weather app on my phone, but clearly, I knew from my car dashboard 78° was only the beginning at 9:30am. I had a slight delay. I thought the parking lot across from the Candy Store was my starting point. But, after following the description of the peak on here, and getting great vocal directions from the Candy Store employee, I got up and back down on the correct trailhead, and was never confused. The heat was unbearable. I think the peak dropped the temperature down about 12 degrees. A nice cool breeze. About a mile and a half back, returned the sauna like hot air. It was a daunting adventure as I had flying sticking on my face and back of neck. I'd never seen them this aggressive latching onto me before. I literally could catch them. Maybe my spf 50 Coppertone sunscreen was sugar for them to enjoy. Hahaha. Still 1 mile away, and my water filter was about empty. My personal water bottle was already gone. I kept moving, and put this 10 mile hike away in 3 hours and 45 minutes. The Candy Store staff were nice enough to give me 2 iced cold cups of water before I returned to buy a few drinks from them shortly after returning to my car. Sorry for this long review. To sum up, I'll try not to hike too late in the morning or too many peaks during the summer. I am pleased to have completed Sitton Peak nonetheless.
