We drove up to the fee station and was told the Hunter Trail was closed because so many people were there. The ranger said the only other was to the peak was via the Sunset Vista trail. Even though we were planning to hike the shorter trail (Hunter), this ended up being a great hike. We had hiked Picacho at least 8 years ago so being able to approach it from a different trail was fun. It was a beautiful day. I think it got to be around 61 degrees. The wind was a little stronger in some sections, but overall it was just fine. I had forgotten about some sections of this trail being a little challenging – but I was able to pull through. Just loved it!
My hubby took a cool photo of me on the cables. Looks scarier that what it was.
