We’ll today I was planning on summiting Santiago Peak.  After researching more I realized it wasn’t gonna happen.  So on to Plan B: Ontario Peak.

Icehouse Canyon has been on my list to check out for a while, so this gave me the perfect opportunity.  I started the hike around 7am.  The trail was very rocky, so it took me a while to get to the top.  Very few people were on the trail, but enough to reassure me that I was going the right way.  I reached the summit around 11:30 (I’m not a fast hiker by any means) and then descended down, finishing around 2:30 ish (give or take).

Overall the hike was good.  There were some areas of the trail after splitting to the Ontario Peak Trail that were a bit more technical and could use a bit of maintenance but not too bad – still very doable.

As I reached the peak, I heard several claps of thunder, which was interesting.  Ended up with a few light sprinkles towards the end but the rest of the hike was relatively sunny.
