The super bloom at Picacho Peak was on full display for us as we hiked to the summit of Picacho Peak. Because of the popularity of the spring flowers, the trail was very, very busy- many people were quite unprepared (no hiking gear, no water) for the difficulty of the trail and some had very small children or dogs with them. There was an hour wait to drive into the park, so we parked elsewhere and walked in- about 2 in the afternoon. Despite the abundance of people, it was a fun hike and I enjoyed the challenge. Gloves are helpful when using the cables on your way to the top, good shoes and water are a must too (as some learned the hard way) and a backpack for water is also a must as you need your hands on the cables at specific points along the trail.
