We started our hike this morning at 6am and at 34 degrees at the Peralta Trail Head. 4 people in our party…all musicians are attempting to summit by sunrise. As this was our first attempt at this hike before dawn, it was amazing how different the trail was to navigate in the dark. Our pace was definitely slower and we missed sunrise by about 10 minutes…but still pretty glorious light anyway. We hopped over to Lone Pine to see it protecting a few campers we visited and said good morning to and shared their stellar view of Weaver's Needle. We decided to pop down the Cave Trail as half our party had never descended that trail before. We didn't see any other hikers on our descent until about the last mile.
