Had been wanting to try the Warren Canyon Loop forever and finally found someone brave enough… thanks Tara!
The trail started out with what we thought were trail-markers but thankfully when we reached an impassable spot I referenced the map I'd downloaded from AllTrails to realize we were WAY off. Backtracked our way to the real trail and kept a closer eye on the map overlay until we reached the Mt. Woodson Trail.
The trail was somewhat overgrown, and we even spied some dino-head rocks.
The mix of sun and shade on Warren Canyon transitioned to the blazing sun of the Mt. Woodson Trail. It was HOT but well worth it when I was FINALLY able to get my Potato Chip Rock pic. Unbelievably there were only a few folks there and one was willing to snap some shots.
After the heat of the hike to the top, the relatively cool Fry- Koegel trail was perfect for the descent. We had different readings for the trip mileage, so it's so ethereal btwn 7.7-9miles total and you have to take 2 cars to keep from adding an additional few miles on the pavement (Route 67) to get from the one trailhead to another.
