This was #3 on the challenge for me. Lucky enough, we had one of our hike group members scout out the dirt/sand road days ahead so we knew what to expect, it's about 10 miles of dirt and then mostly sand. You have to get off the main dirt road here or there, to avoid very deep sand and ditches. There are small “trail” signs, but not often, they do not say trail name though.
Trailhead has a restroom, we were the only ones, the entire hike. It was strenuous but not too long. You can start seeing quartz pieces a few miles before peak, the closer you get, the more you see. We also experienced some gorgeous mica, flake-like minerals, like sheets. The Quartz on top is huge, very cool temp to the touch. Make sure you climb over the top to reach the best view and quartz.
The hike is pretty much all up up up and has lots of loose rocks.
