Great morning hiking up to Bonanza Peak. We got a late start this morning. Stepped off just after 7am and at 7600 feet it was already starting to get warm. During our drive in on the 2 mile dirt/rocky road, we saw lots of rabbits and a large deer along the way. The trail up to the initial saddle on the ridgeline was very easy to follow and partially shaded which helped with the breeze.

Just as we approached the ridgeline, we walked up on three wild horse grazing. What a cool surprise that was. After taking numerous pictures of the horses, we continued on another mile or so to the summit. We were the only hikers on trail at that point and enjoyed a 30 minute stay at the summit by ourselves. As be began our descent, we ran into a handful of other hikers making their way up.

The descent felt long as the temps were increasing. Likely in the mid 80's or 90's once back to the car. All in all a great hike. My favorite of the Las Vegas Six Pack, just because of the beauty of the trail and that trees. Add in a chance meeting with a large deer and three wild horse and you double the beauty. It was a great day!
