Hiked on Feb. 17, 2022. Logged in 18.95 miles, 9 hours & 48 minutes. This was part of our 3-Peaks-in-3-Days-Road Trip…being from San Diego 🙂
Because the trail goes thru the Ohlone Regional Wilderness, a permit is required which you can apply & pay a minimal fee through EBParks.org (East Bay); good for 1 year. Received the permit (that also serves as a map) within 3 days of applying. Parking: Yes but on our hike day it was “Free”. Thank you.
The vastness of green, rolling hills, with portions of steepness here and there, sitting on a wide open space felt like an endless trail. Met a party of 4 hikers only. Saw a small herd of cows. Definitely a very long hike. My pinky toes were not happy! But glad we did this around this time because the intermittent cool breeze made it for a doable, better and pleasurable day to hike.
