Parking was full, but parked across the street at the botanical garden.  Had done this hike previously in January 2021 but from Golden Gate Rd.  King Canyon Trail is 15 minutes from my house and provided a different route.  It was relatively easy up until the last mile, which I underestimated since I had previously done 3 trails rated as hard.  The top provided for great views of the area and the weather was great.  On the way down I again underestimated the trail as it was strewn with loose rock.  I almost lost footing several times and actually did once, landing hard on my left side.  No significant injuries but my right hand and left forearm have quite a few abrasions.  I was happy to have a first aid kit in my hiking bag.  Other than that, it was pretty noneventful.  It was a longer hike that those previous, but made the elevation per mile less.  I have found that “moderate” trails typically gain 500 – 600 feet in elevation pre mile whereas “hard” trails are double that.  Therefore, this one was moderate, but I did struggle a bit with the extra distance being nearly twice that of all 3 trails done previously.
