Gorgeous day for a hike up to Cuyamaca Peak with my friends Amy and Lynn, via the Azalea Glen Loop and Conejos trails. The weather was sunny with temps in the 60's. Encountered some mud here and there from melted snow, and intermittent snowy areas. We didn't need microspikes, but the snow definitely made it more interesting, fun, and challenging. There were mountain lion and coyote tracks everywhere in the snow and mud. Very cool to see these and ponder their whereabouts! The views at the top were stunning of course, and we sat on some rocks and enjoyed our picnic lunch. We met another group of hikers at the peak who are also participating in the challenge, and we took turns helping each other with photos. Took the fire road all the way back to the campground and parking, where we enjoyed a frosty cold Mexican Coke! We earned that! It was a beautiful and fun hike that was challenging at times, but worth the effort.
