It is getting hot, even at elevation. A gorgeous but challenging hike, partially because the Marion Trail is steep, and not well engineered; I think I prefer the (longer) loop trail starting near Idyllwild/Pine Cove. The short part where you overlap with the PCT is noticeable nicer. There is still plenty of water for those who want to use a filter, thought I only used the 2L I had brought along. It was quiet on the trail on a Thursday, though at the top it got a bit peoply.
