I thought it will be like Mt. Baldy through the Devil's back. No, it was way harder than that.

First of all, the trail in the first 2.5 miles are not always clear, either no many sign for direction. Without the Alltrails App, I can't imagine how we could follow the right direction.

The trail condition isn't very well I have to say, either rocky or full of dead tree debris. The elevation gain was pretty sharp too.

We started before 8am. It was a tough climb. We had to take many breaks. Eventually we summited at 3pm. To top is a full of big rocks, barely land a sturdy foot. We found the San Jacinto board and took the picture. Since there isn't much space allow you taking pictures. The view is gorgeous for sure.  At a part of trail somewhere near the top, we can see the cable tram.

At 3pm, we headed down. Sun moved west, we can enjoy the view from the way off. Then it followed sunset, it was so beautiful. At 5pm it was getting darker. In the last 1.5 hours, we have to use our flash light, and moved very slow since we have to find the way to stay on trail.

When we got back to our car, it was almost 8pm. Finally, we made it again. I have to, except Mr. Whitney, say 14.5 mi San Jacinto was the hardest one for this year. The last original peak left for me is San Gorgonio which is covered by thick snow now. I will save it for next year.

  1. Please help to remove this one. It was a mistake by picking a wrong peak name. It should be San Jacinto, rather than Santiago.
    Thank you!
