We took the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and hiked from up there to the San Jacinto peak. The parking fee at the premises is $15. The tram ticket is for round trip and requires reservations from 9am. But some tickets are issued on arrival. Tram service starts at 8am and you can ride the tram on arrival basis till 9am. The hike permit needs to be filled at the ranger station before you start hiking. The trail is marked with signs easy to follow and the rangers give you a map as well. It seems AllTrails have some errors regarding this trail. The actual hike is 12 miles from the tram stop round trip. It's a breathtaking hike with endless pine forest soothing to the eye. The last park of the hike would be bit tenuous as there are rock boulders and the path is not very clear. Please return the wilderness permit back to the letter box on your return at the ranger station so they can make sure you returned safe. Before taking the tram back, you can enjoy a drink or a meal with live music at the restaurant
