San Jacinto the hard way. Alarm went off at 1am, picked up at 2am, and got to Marion Mountain Trail at 4:30am. Even though the tram is open, we opted for this route again this year which took us almost 14.5 miles and 4,500 feet of elevation gain. This trail is just as daunting going up as it is coming down and I have the sore toes to prove it. We started with headlamps on under an almost full moon and star-filled sky. The weather was perfect and this trail is so beautiful that you almost forget how brutal it is…almost.
