Hi, congrats on bagging the unicorn, Santiago Peak! I see you started at Maple Springs. So you take that all the way until it meets with the Main Divide? Did you bag Modjeska also?
I mapped out the route on All Trails: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/map–58315
Please let me know if this is the route you took and if so how was that 23 miles? I want to knock it very soon; hopefully this Sunday.
Your help will be much appreciated!
We drove up Maple Springs Road until the end of the asphalt and parked a short ways up the dirt road, then proceeded to hike up to the closed gate of the North Main Divide Road. The gate’s notice of area closure indicated that the notice expired on 9/15/19. We hiked the N. Main Divide Rd. to Santiago only and did not approach Modjeska. My friend had told me this would be about 13.5 miles. My phone’s pedometer indicated over 17 miles.
