Hiking to Santiago Peak was a great challenge. The trails I chose to hike on were closed so I only had two options and I ended up choosing the longest trail because I want to prepare myself for new challenges and it was great to have hiked the trail to Santiago Peak via Maple Springs Visitor Center, 24 miles and almost 10 hours of hiking. The hike at the beginning was not much fun but the view from Santiago Peak is wonderful, being able to see the great mountains of the region and the return was better because it was easier to enjoy the view because vice descends looking at the mountains enjoying the view.
