Started the day out super early in order to avoid the heat. We were the only ones there (a mountain biker came up after us) and hit the trail by 6:15.
Long, slow incline makes it an easy hike. It’s basically a rocky truck trail up to the radio towers – I wouldn’t want to be hiking if there were a lot of peeps driving on it (it’s apparently an off-roading place too?) We only had one truck go by us on his way up to the radio towers and he was as an employee and not driving crazy, and there was a lot of dust kick up. We headed down from the trail at about 10:30 and there were some trucks and dirt bikes on their way up, so we were really glad to get an early start  plus I imagine it will become a very hot hike shortly.
The trip up the dirt road to the trail head is dirt and rocky, and only wide enough for 1. I scratched up my truck on the prickly trees trying to let people past. Would not recommend for anyone in a small car – a small SUV would probably be fine, truck is better.
No sign on the top but if you head to the highest cluster of rocks you can find the geological marker.
All in all a good midweek hike, if it was closer (and the dirt road not as long) I would make it a regular thing.
Gnats were annoying but there were also lots of butterflies and birds out this morning  too.
