Very busy trailhead. We didn't arrive until 11:30 am or so, and had to park in a muddy ditch on the side of the road, adding about half a mile to our hike.

Easy and pleasant hike. Enjoyed the gradual elevation gain on the smooth and well-maintained fire road. Fun to see rock climbers and hang gliders (!) along the way. I really enjoyed the views on this clear day – so cool to see the Sierras on the fair horizon, some snow-covered peaks in Mendocino to the north, and all the hills and valleys of wine country in between. Interesting to see the burned trees and other evidence of the 2017 fires. Lupin in bloom!

5.5 hours.
