Met a fellow teacher on extended break due to Coronavirus for this long but fairly easy hike! Last ascent (upon diverging from the truck trail) had some challenging moments in vertical climb through mud- we took our time! This was my first hike with new shoes and a hydration backpack, which I bought myself in celebration of completing the San Diego Six Pack a few days prior. Both worked out swimmingly: my new shoes christened with mud still remaining on the edges of their soles- it was quite wet for the majority of the hike. A bit chilly at 7AM, and at the summit at 10AM, but when moving, was a nice temperature.
