LA born lifelong Dodger Fan, I wanted to show respect to Tommy Lasorda – such a big part of Southern California so I threw on my LA Dodger Tee shirt and headed out to Saturday January 9, 2021 be closer to the Big Dodger in the Sky.

After a late Friday night, unplanned but often inevitable …. I got an equally unplanned late start Saturday. Sitton is only 40 minutes away from home and from two pervious climbs I know I can go up and back under 4 hours – so late was going to have to work. Sitton has a large parking lot but when I arrived at 9:30Am every spot was taken and cars were everyway along Ortega Highway road. I found a spot and started out.
Ideal conditions, bright, sunny and about 61 degrees. Although the parking lot was full with overflow, I didn't run into than many hikers – lots of hikers but pretty spaced out. After the first 30 minutes the early start hikers, like I planned, were coming down, with each passing hiker I thought that should me but here I am still going up!

Great views at the top – I like this hike, I have used it as my first Six Pack peak 3 times now. I hope I make 2021 a better hiking year – although blessed with lots of time in 2020 I still only made 5 Six Pack Peaks :(, disappointing on top of a disappointment kind of year. 2021 I hope to do better – and while I was on the trail up, I thought of a New Year’s Resolution worth keeping.

This year I resolve to spend more time on the peaks I climb – hiking, often solo, my tendency is to get in a hurry and leave soon after a hard-earned peak. This year, solo or not I am going to try to linger longer take it all in and let the extra time create some new space in my memory – closer to the big Dodger in the Sky.
