Where do I begin??? After how many times I attempted to do this challenge, finally, I am now official! I signed up:) I just have to finish all 12 peaks – SoCal and San Diego. No pressure…
Thanks to my supportive family and friends! Special mention to Tita J for introducing me to hiking and to this challenge. I've been tagging along with her for the last four years but I never get a chance to finish all the peaks every year.
So, Sitton Peak… Stunning is what I always describe this peak. This is my third time here and is now one of my favorite. My hubby and eldest son were able to join me this time. They love it too:)
The last time we were here, we were not that late but parking is already full. This time, we were on time or early. We were the third vehicle to be there. When we were done, parking is already along the side of the road and it was a lot of vehicles.
There were a lot of people! A lot of kids too! We felt like we were in Disneyland. We even saw a family with stroller. We did not expect that there will be a lot of people as it was a peak. But hey, they wanted to be out like us too so they don’t care if it is an easy or hard trail. Most of them were wearing face coverings though which is great. Everyone is being mindful that there is still a pandemic going on. On our last hike here, most people were not wearing one.
Perfect weather all throughout. Trail is in perfect condition.
As expected, the last half mile is a struggle. It was fun though. I guess we can laugh about it now as we know what to expect.
The summit is very busy, crowded. Everybody wants to take a picture of course. We were able to get ours later when we were about to leave. We had our snack on the other side of the summit to avoid the crowd.
We were all excited to get a slice or box of pie and cold soda after the hike but the candy store was closed:(
Overall, Sitton is splendid! Will be back for sure.
