Hot day in OC today! Got to the trailhead at 8:45AM, and to my surprise, even with a big parking lot, I grabbed one of the last spots on this Saturday morning. Hike was mostly shaded until four corners. It was a hot one today though, peaking at 86 degrees; had to take my 1/4 zip off not even 10 minutes into the hike. As I got closer to the peak, I began to see more people, though I kept my quick pace. The climb itself (last 0.5 miles) was steep, and it could be compared to Strawberry Peak, although I do not believe it is as strenuous, as it is a much short climb. Had me breathing, but not enough to stop. Good amount of people on the peak, so I just stopped for a bigger, to drink my coconut water, and eat my fruit snacks and sausage sticks. Stayed at the peak for maybe 20 minutes before climbing down again. Pretty quiet climb down, seeing maybe a dozen groups trekking up as I was going down. I could have trail ran this down, although I wanted to save my legs/joints to go on another hike or two the day after or on Monday. Overall, it wasn't a bad hike, although I wouldn't geek out over it, as it did take 1.5 hours to get to here from West LA.
