This was my sixth time to hike San Bernardino Peak and like the previous five times since 2015, I started from the trailhead at Angelus Oaks. This time however, when I got to the parking lot at 0600H the parking lot was packed that there was no way I could park there so I had to leave and park at a different location closer to Highway 38 in Angelus Oaks. This added about 7 minutes of walking to the trailhead. I started hiking from the traihead proper at around 6:00 am.  The trail itself was good although the bugs were out and were somewhat of an annoyance. The trail was completely free from snow until I got to the stream by the first switchback after Limber Pine Bench Campground. The snow completely covered the corner of the switchback but I got through without having to deploy my microspikes. I had brought spikes but I didn't need them to get through the snow. Then the trail was again free of snow until I got to the area between the Washington Monument and the summit. Here again, although there was snow on the trail, the spots were either easily crossed without the use of spikes or could be walked around. This was true also of the snow at the spot where the trail to the summit branched uphill from the main trail.  I got to the summit around 1:30 pm. There I met up with friends from the 3H and 213 Hiking groups who were just leaving. Also, James Harvey of the Hike Beyond the Hills group also arrived at about the same time – he and his group had taken the Forsee Creek trail. It made the hike worthwhile. I took the obligatory pics, signed the register, had snacks and took my summit nap. Then I started hiking down. On the way back somewhere past the junction to the Columbine Springs, I came across two other hikers who were also doing the Six-Pack of Peaks. We hiked the rest of the way together. We got back to the trailhead at around 6:34 pm.  The other hikers, like myself had to park some distance from the trailhead due to the parking area being filled earlier in the morning. We hiked back down the road and I left them at their car and continued to mine. On the way I met a group of locals who congratulated me when they found out that I had summited. They were taking a walk to the trail but would not be hiking it that day. I got back to my car and left. My fifth peak completed for the challenge.
