Hardly saw anyone on the trails today – just two other couples doing short hikes, so had the summit loop all to myself (though I did see a couple salamanders who were not hiking). Wisely brought trekking poles, which made short work of the Shortcut (it’s still a challenge). I think it’s rivaled by the climb from Poverty Flat, which catches you after you’ve got 11 miles on the legs. Was impressed with the view east to the snow-capped Sierras in the distance, which gave this hike bonus points.
