#SundayFunday 2-fer-1 Solo hike. Decided to knock out 2 peaks, Cuyamaca and Volcan Mountain. Surprised with spectacular Alpine conditions at Cuyamaca Peak. But I came prepared with microspikes and winter gear. Fresh powder occasionally deep snow at 6,000’. Snow was melting at 4,000’ by 12 noon. Volcan Mountain was muddy and slippery, some small patches of snow at the top but easily passable.
Cuyamaca Peak (6,515’): total 6 miles, total gained 1,613’, total 3 hours, burned 1,014 kcal.
Volcan Mountain (5,300’): total 5.10 miles, total gained 1,324’, burned 619 kcal, total 2 hours.
