Snowshoed our way up…straight up, to Mt. Pinos Peak, with Hike Beyond The Hills! It 3.7 miles round trip, with 600’ elevation gain. It was such a spectacular day and so much snow! We got there at 830am. Park Ranger at the bottom of mountain stopping every single vehicle to either put on snow chain or if 4WD to proceed. There were patches of ice on road, but that melted by the afternoon. By 830 am, the Nordic Base Parking Lot was almost full. We used microspikes the first half mile, then switched to snowshoes after. We literally went straight up after crossing the flat meadow area.
