You need to park a mile lower than the summer access TH. The trail was heavily laden with snow, but very doable in snowshoes. Having done this trail numerous times in June for the wildflowers, it was extremely interesting for me personally to see it in the snow, especially the old mine and out-buildings. The snow shelter at the top did not appear to have any firewood available, but otherwise is in nice condition and made for a nice place to celebrate on the way back down from the summit. Using Map My Hike: I logged 9.15 miles and 1,456′ elevation gain.

Hey @amysuematthews! I know conditions have likely changed in the two months since you hiked this, but @itssummit2me is preparing to tackle Lookout Mountain and is looking for beta. Which trailhead did you use?
On the road up to the “regular” Lookout Mountain/Independent Mike TH, the road was closed/covered by snow. There’s a “junction” there where I parked and started the hike from there (the road) approximately one mile downhill from the regular TH. I’ll send a pic of the junction sign to you via messenger, as I don’t see a way to attach a pic here. Good luck!!
