Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

This is my 3rd time starting my 6 Pack of Peaks with Strawberry Peak and I still think it's the best one to start with due to its lower altitude and short distance.  All Trails reports have said the parking lot has been jammed lately with all the people coming to play in the snow, but I went on a Friday and there were only a few cars there.  The day I went there were only about 10 total people on the trail, which I love!  For those unfamiliar with this hike, there are essentially 2 pieces to it.  The first piece is an easy, gentle uphill climb.  The second piece is a 1.5 mile extremely steep rock scramble.  There are small manageable patches of snow on the first part of the hike.  The steep part is almost entirely covered in snow at this point.  On the day I went, every person summited without spikes but used spikes to descend.  I cannot imagine doing it right now without spikes.  If you plan to hike without spikes, I recommend keeping a close eye on trail conditions and only going once a lot more snow has melted.
