Yes, you read that right. My boyfriend made his way to our meeting point in North LA and on his way, his tire exploded on the 5 freeway. We made it to our meeting point and we hopped in my car only to experience a few sputters from some kind of engine malfunction. We made it to Nordic Base at about 11:40am. Oof. A late start. But, we pushed on to Sawmill Mountain. After spotting to snack on some cliff bars, we made our way to Grouse, and then back to Pinos. The route to Grouse and its return challenged us at various points but all in all, it was such a beautiful trip. We feel very accomplished to have checked off another 6 Pack of Peaks trek, as well as having completed the 321 challenge. Sun, bugs, and all.
