From Hwy 2 we hiked to Strawberry Peak via Red Box Canyon. Got there before 7 am. Nice parking lot with lots of parking and many hikers ready to head out. The first 2 miles were enjoyable, just easy stroll on the side of the mountain. There were couple spots where the path was very narrow. I would not recommend for those with fear of hights. Afterwards few ups and downs with lots of yucca, sage, boulders where poles came in handy since my knee wasn't at 100%. The summit is just another pile of boulders and dry vegetations but the reward is 360 views of LA, Mt. Wilson, Mt. Baldy still covered with snow, etc. And the strawberries we brought 🙂 We may go via Colby Canyon next year, shorter but more challenging route.
