Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Today my dad and I kicked off our first of the six by driving over an hour to hit Strawberry Peak! I was nervous because it would be the most difficult hike I’ve done since breaking my foot 5 months ago.

The snow was fresh and super soft, I’m not a big fan of hiking in the snow but I didn’t have any problems with any of the snow on the trail. The first two miles were just cruising, but I knew from what I’d read to be ready to climb. The last mile was a lot, I did set my poles aside and use my hands for some of the scrambling parts.

Overall, I feel really good about it. It was difficult but not horrific and I feel like I got to push myself without killing myself. Makes me super excited for the other, harder hikes.

This is just the beginning!

Carmen 🙂
