Slow and steady to the top was my motto that day. My son and I started at the trailhead at around 7:30 AM, continuous elevation gain to the peak with several rest breaks for photos, heart rate stabilization and breathing pattern regulation, lol. It was definitely one of the most challenging things I have put my body through and I am so proud of my accomplishment! Rock scramble to the peak after you pass the hut was not bad, I actually really liked that part of the hike. Lunch at the peak @ 1:20 PM was windy and sunny but a cool 40 degrees. The views were amazing that day! Descent was slow and steady as well due to all the rocks in the trail/forced head down/concentration to prevent ankle rolling. Got back to the car at dusk and rushed to McDonalds for a well deserved quarter pounder meal (I never eat McDonalds) That is the highest I have summit-ed to date and am now exploring higher peeks as a new goal for next year (Half Dome?). San Gorgonio is next on the list and my final 6 pack/peak.
