It was a perfect sunny day for a hike. We started at the visitor center parking lot at Mitchell Canyon. We took the trail to the left and followed Oak Rd and Coulter Pine trail which gently climbed an open hilly area. We then took Back Creek trail which was more challenging as we climbed up towards our goal. From there we took the North Peak trail which was my favorite part of the hike. This trail wound around the back side of the mountain, contained a beautiful view of the wilderness below, and cooled us off with a wonderful breeze. We finally reached the peak and toured the small museum and gift store, ate lunch, and enjoyed the 360 degree view. We hiked back along Juniper trail through a campground, then along Deer Flat Rd to Mitchell Canyon Rd and finally back to our car in the visitor center parking lot.
