Started at 4:30 solo and had coyotes singing  for the first hour and a half or so until I reached the fire road.   Going up to then lookout this was a beautiful hike.  First 2 miles are narrow, rocky and steep but in the dark I didn’t realize how narrow and steep.  Upper section is through oak trees and beautiful.  Coming back down I started to feel the heat and the last mile I realized I had underestimated the heat. Since I was solo I was just starting to get really spooked when I hit the road at the bottom.  I carried and drank 5 liters.   This hike is beautiful but best down in spring and fall, maybe not summer.
