We started our hike/run up to Broadcast Peak early at 7AM. There were a few patches of poison at the bottom section of the trail especially near the creek, but the trail was wide enough to easily avoid it. Going up the switchbacks all the way up to the peak was very bearable due to our early start time; the sun was not too intense yet. While climbing we got beautiful views of Lake Cachuma and the Santa Ynez Valley that got even better the higher we climber. We eventually made it to the top of the ridge where we turned west to begin the steep final climb to the summit. This last section was definitely the most grueling due to the steepness. But once, once we summited Broadcast Peak we were greeted with awesome views of the Channel Islands. We ran all the way back down to the trailhead and finished with 10+ miles on the day. It was beginning to get hot, so this was a great time to start the descent.
