We started this hike in the dark with headlamps. We were the first to summit the peak that morning with another hiker following us by about 20 minutes. The peak is gorgeous and definitely a view worth the effort. From the top you can see the back of Mount Wilson, Baldy, Cucamonga and in the distance you can see San Jacinto and Saddleback.

This is definitely a ridge trail with one side usually being the mountain and the other side being the drop off. Once you get to the second sign to begin the ridge boulder scramble toward the top. The scramble was the hardest part, but everything prior to it was a great easy hike.

Once we got to the peak, we looked at the shadowy side of the peak (western side) and there was a very thin layer of frost on the sandy/rocky surface. Nothing too thick that you will slip, but very visibly frost. The scramble was a little tough and I'd recommend poles or gloves. You'll definitely want good shoes.

Overall it was great and I'd love to go again.

Peak: 6,142 feet

Distance: 7.1 miles

Ascent: 1,491 feet
