Phew!!! Quite the sense of relief when that one was over. The hike to Icehouse saddle was a hiker's dream. Roaring water, no wind, perfect temps and near empty trail. Once I made that hard right turn to Ontario Peak it was a completely different story. Could barely see the trail, just a handful of glimpses here and there. Not many obvious footprints either. Crampons/Micro Spikes aren't gonna do much. I'd recommend snow shoes for sure. I didn't feel anything was icy enough or steep enough to necessitate an ice ax for a self arrest but I wouldn't recommend against bringing one either. In the end it was a glorious way to spend a Friday! Met a really cool hiker from San Fran (Second week in a row I met a hiker from San Fran) and she definitely bailed me out a few times when I went off trail. I seem to never learn the importance of downloading the map aead of time. Maybe this will be the time. This makes 6 for me. Yay!!! Now onto the rest of the challenge.
