Black Butte has some fantastic views of Shasta and even the town below. We could even see the Golden Arches from there 😂 This hike posed several challenges for me. It was very windy, and the entire trail was primarily Talis Rock. Some people can hop over the rock, but it's important to consider this if you have weak ankles/ankle tendons, etc. I had a sprained ankle so that made it even more challenging. Being as I had to be very careful each step the hike was more difficult than I'd like. I had to turn around about 0.2 miles from the top ( about a 10-minute walk) because a storm was coming in fast. We got down to our car, hopped in, and it immediately started pouring rain! All this to say, Black Butte has some amazing views if you are okay with difficult Talis rock. All in all this was my least favorite of the 7 listed hikes but I'm still glad I went.
