First hike of the year with my hubby was one of my best. We started at 7:00 am from Manker Flats and to my happy surprise, they built an outhouse! Woohoo! BWO TP ???? We walked up the fire trail to the Baldy Notch by 8:10 am and the lodge wasn’t open. Does it open at 9:00? We continued up the Devil’s Backbone and made the summit at 10:35 am. We crossed a few snow patches without difficulty in hiking shoes and was windy on top.  Lucky, hubby brought lightweight down jackets to don while having our snacks. We headed back to the Notch & took the ski lift to the parking lot and walked down to Manker Flats. The best part was we had cloud cover the whole time. Temp at the start was 50 degrees and at 12:30 when we reached the car it was 70 degrees. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. One down!!
