I can now officially say, this guy climbed Mount Washington!

After days of cold, overcast and rain, I finally woke up to a clear, warm summer day. The timing for this weather couldn’t have been closer, the conditions were perfect. There were some patches of snow on the trails but that was about it for obstacles, the only difficulty was climbing this thing.

While the hike was certainly no easy task, it was simply a constant but steady upward climb. No flat parts, fairy steep, and lots and lots of rocks, but nothing I haven’t encountered before.

The second half of the Tuckerman Ravine trail was closed due to snow, so my best alternative was to take the Lion Head Trail route to the top. It was still a good climb, and making it to the top and seeing the summit sign was definitely special. While the views from the peak were certainly cool, I actually enjoyed the views from the Lion Head peak better. Probably because it was more peaceful there, since this was the first clear weather day in almost a week, obviously there were a crap ton of tourists at the top who either drove or took the railway to the top so it was very crowded up there.

I still very much enjoyed this hike and I can’t tell you how happy I am to not only have completed this peak by itself, but to also have picked the best peaks I could have done the last five days with the weather conditions I was given.

With that, we’re finally done with the White Mountains! Tomorrow I’ll be taking a rest day to drive up to Maine for the final peak of the challenge! 10 are done, only 1 more left! Let’s finish this!
